Brandy Is Taking the Vocal Bible to Lagos for Detty December

It's a fitting way for Brandy to close out her year. Earlier in 2026, the Recording Academy's Black Music Collective honored her with the Black Music Icon Award, a nod to more than three decades of stacked harmonies and vocal choices that a whole generation of singers learned from. Flytime's founder, Cecil Hammond, said she represents everything House of R&B stands for, and honestly, it's hard to argue with him. Last year that same stage belonged to Total and Kid Capri, so the bar for grown folks' R&B in Lagos was already set.

Her show is the first of six nights. Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged follows on the 21st, Flytime Fest runs December 22 through 24, and Flytime Circle closes things out on Christmas Day, with more lineups coming in the next few weeks. Until Brandy hits that stage, you can keep her voice in rotation with us. Listen live at redcuprnb.com.

Fact basis: Brandy headlines Flytime's House of R&B on Sunday, December 20, at the Eko Convention Centre, during the holiday stretch when Nigerians abroad and global visitors pour into Lagos; several nights sold out last year and the biggest crowd neared 20,000; she received the Black Music Icon Award in 2026; and the December calendar runs December 20–25 with more lineups to come. Last year's House of R&B featured Total and DJ Kid Capri.
