John Legend Reunites With Pharrell Williams for "Muse"
John Legend is stepping outside his comfort zone, and he brought one of music's most trusted hitmakers with him. Muse, a new studio album produced in full and co-written by Pharrell Williams, arrived October 23 via Republic Records. It's the first full collaboration between the two after more than 20 years of friendship.
A Full-Circle Moment
The project traces back to Clipse. Legend sang on "The Birds Don't Sing," the emotional opening track of Clipse's Grammy-nominated Let God Sort Em Out, which Pharrell produced in full. That performance stuck with Pharrell, who decided to build a larger project around Legend's voice. So it fits that Pusha T and Malice return on "Bodies On The Floor," the only outside feature besides Pharrell himself.
Made in Paris
The pair began recording in January 2025 at Pharrell's studio inside Louis Vuitton's Paris headquarters. Legend also took an unusual step: he recorded some songs Pharrell wrote entirely on his own, something he says he almost never does.
The Sound
Don't expect a typical Legend ballad record. The album pulls from gospel, soul, doo-wop, Afrobeats and hip-hop, with strings, horns and 808s holding it together. Pharrell appears on six of the 16 tracks, including the title song. Standouts include the lead single "Daylight," and "Her," which leans on doo-wop and gospel, while "Get Back" with Pharrell rides horns and strings.

Legend celebrated the release with a music video for "Bodies On The Floor" featuring Clipse. Muse is streaming everywhere now.
